I will begin my research with sustainability examples that use natural resources to have a sustainable design and not harm the environment they were implemented in, as well as how they blend in with this same environment, There are two examples the first one focuses on native resources and the second one on naturally given resources such as the light or the weather, "Sustainability involves using these resources in a way that meets our current needs without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. It requires a delicate balance between economic growth, environmental protection, and social equity." (Andreea Olariu, 2024) So they just don't need to be resources but long-lasting ones too.
This Pavillion is made out of Bambuu a common plant in the region, it is designed to promote the connection between humans and nature, as well as to blend in with its environment without affecting it or causing any damage, even though its design its far from a school I really like the contrast of natural light and the design in the Bambu patterns, if I use something like this I will use 'Guadua' which is native in the region of my proposal and is very similar to Bambu with long-lasting life and efficiency.
This building is made by the principles of Passivhaus, which are aimed at providing the comfort and energy efficiency a building can provide. It embraces the quality of the materials used on the site, but it is mainly designed to save as much energy as needed on heaters or lights. In my major project heaters or ventilation is not mainly needed and for light sources, I will try to use natural sources that are estrategecly located in the building.
This is an example of a traditional Colombian school founded by the government, these are mainly houses that are adapted to become a school, they only work until the 5th grade,so they are usually not that big, I want to design something like this but with intended design of sustainability and durability on mind.
These are the first sketches of my major project, I am planning on doing a two-level building that connects with a one-level building through a hall or maybe a studio outdoors, that works as a hall, I'm not sure in which of the two decide wet, either way, ill make a garden area on top of the second building or leave the garden in the playground area, this are decisions I would make during the making of the project itself, or when I develop further research and can be able of making my own conclusions in the division of the space. Ill research more ways to use sustainable resources and products on my project.
