Further Research: Scarborough Lifeboat station

For this post I will be researching the Scarborough Lifeboat Station it is located in the south bay of Scarborough and the design of the station was a key point the city wanted to focus on, hey also focus on the effectiveness of the space in the building, this was accomplished by applying different sets of irregular shapes in the outside of the building also making them out of different materials so they could stand out more according to Matthew Groom (2017) as the rest of the town has a more urban architecture and buildings in the east part of the town. As well the client which was the Royal National Lifeboat  Institute tried to make the building a very noticeable place.  It received multiple awards on different occasions.  His use of wood inspired me to make my project with a similar approach.

I chose to investigate this building because it does not have the typical design a Lifeboat station would have, the different materials and sizes of shapes make it more noticeable, it is, in other words, a complicated design while other life stations chose to have a more practical design with simple lines and shapes, but majority of them just use two materials, and chose practicality, I wanted to focus on the design because as stated lifeboat stations are not primary design with aesthetic purposes, I wanted t change this and make them as efficient an appealing visually.
