In this post I will be talking about the process and development of my 3D model I have already discuss the process of my laser cutting, I will be talking about the process of assembling the parts and creating the outside context of the model. at the end I will add a reflection of the process.
First to laser cut my model I had to create a template on a software I use SketchUp but because I did not have SketchUp premium on my laptop I had complications on exporting it as a DXF the first time I went to the workshop they told me I had to re do it using AutoCAD software I did this and as It was my first time using AutoCAD it was an interesting experience so I tried exporting my work from SketchUp into AutoCAD as a new project but using the template I had already done. On the second attempt of cutting my template I had to ask for help because the laser machine I was at wasn't working and the workshop director had to arranged the scale of my archive finally I was able to cut it and start to arrange it.
After completing the laser cutting of the parts I started separating them in the gray board that I would use to build my model, then I start arranging them to know how much of the gray board I will use and cut the rest. I realized during the process of arranging them that the measurement where now of because of the density of the wood, something I did not consider when making the scale measurements.
I then stated to paste the sides of the building using super glue, but I left the front side for the last part as I needed to add the green walls, as well because the different sizes the front facade of the building had, it was difficult to arrange it all at once. I used PVA to paste the flowers to the wood and let it dry.
Once I finish the separate pieces of the building I started to cut and paste the green sheet that would work as the grass of my site, I had two divided into two because the measurement of the sheet was smaller than the grey cardboard. I put books so that there will be pleasure applied and the will leave no unevenness and the surface would turn out as smooth as possible.
After I finish assembling my building and adding the other walls. Before I added the roof to my model I wanted for my interior to look decent as it could be seen from outside from the window caps, so I added a grey carboard as the floor and them started to put arrange the ceiling. As it can be seen in the picture above the grass sheet was not arranged properly by me and well I did not notice until it was already dry. I decided to cover the majority with the rest of plants I would add as my site plan indicated.
For the rest of the materials added in the landscape I used rope and thread to create the bushes, for this I tied some rope in between my fingers and then twisted with thread to secure that it would not separate (1) and cut thought the middle and the edges (2) of the threat added hot glue on the base of the cut so that it did not separate when detangling the pieces with a hairbrush to give volume (3) and finally I colour the rope with pastel colour sticks (4) and glue them to the establish position I added to my site plan.
Finally after competing the four pieces of the house and adding the greenery of the landscape I added the patio celling and columns. The only complication was the gap of the green sheet I used for the grass and that the glue I chose did not dry as I was expected, additionally I did not know that the laser was going to leave burning marks in some places of my project, I consider sanding it but I fear that could have damage the texture.
