Today we were assigned to analyze the websites of in my case architects I have previously chosen , Diana Wiesner & Daniel Bonilla. To do this I will be analyzing the design, layout, color palette, and typography. Additionally I will take into account the navigation settings the way the portfolio of the architect is presented and how easy it is to navigate and understand the website and architect.
Daniel Bonilla
To start the Website is not a personal website of the architect is about the architectural firm he is part of, which is called Bogotá architecture workshop ( Taller de arquitectura de Bogota Daniel Bonilla arquitectos) their home page is their project page as well, all in very well size images, When you select a project it shows you the name of the project, and when you click it it takes you o another page where's there all the information related to the project which makes it easier for the reader. Their header is clear it consist of a menu bar and the name of the firm with clear font and color. The fotter is good but it would be better it if had more information, like a contact and not just two social media links, maybe a location or a list of awards or recognitions. A detail I like about this home page is that in the menu you can select the type of project and it highlights the images of the projects that are involved in that area.
For example I have selected educational projects and it only shows the ones related to it.
To continue the menu line they added 'Parameters' I didn't understand it at the beginning but as I was reading it i figure is more like the theme of the project they use the same design as the project page, which makes it easier but at the same time is a little confusing at first. Do to the fact that is a translation and not the original text it was harder to understand. But the right text is the translation the website has witch is more accurate and coherent.
To follow the next page is called 'The workshop' when I first read the tittle I thought it would be the building they work on their projects and not the people that work on them, a more specific tittle could be better, and I would have like to know about all the people that are part of the firm and not just the two main architects.
The contact page is good it is clear and easy to then a message and it also gives two alternative options an email and a contact number to call if necessary.
They have a page intended to educational projects they offer like courses or field trips This is interesting only if you interested in knowing some things of what they have done, this is only relevant if you are interested in the projects that have done and not the ones that their are going to do in the future.
Overall I enjoy the website, it was easy to managed and understand it gives a complex history, of each project and all the background elements necessary to understand and get to know more about the architect and its work.
Next I will be taking about Diana Wesner website, in its majority is her personal work as an architect but there are also parts in which it mentions her projects with copartners.
The home page has a list of projects, and as Indicators the establish amount of public space, architectural designs and green infrastructure measure in hectares, I found this very interesting majority of architectures don't have this, the way they impact the world you could say. She also has her acknowledgments awards and the collaborations she has with others. I found that it is very clear and the information is well stated, is the kind of information you wanna know at first glance.
The next page talks about her projects, this are listed with and image and the tittle of the project and what they are focus on, there is also an option to only see projects that are related to a specific subject for example public places and urbanism, this is very helpful to the person that is navigating the website.
The next pages are about her award and contest, which is very good information if you are looking about that because it well organize and explained. Because I was not as interested in it I did not found it relevant.
Then there are the Autor's referred post and publications, This is not something I had seen implemented before and was interesting to watch it makes the person interested in the author have a complete and diverse source of information in the same page. which I found very good.
The next page is about her and her recognitions with a small biography and the types of design she makes, it show a complete information of who she is and what she has done thru her career. It shows this in a short but a efficient way not distracting the read at all.
The contact sheet is neat and straight forward it gives a location so you know where to find them which to me is very important.
Overall I enjoy the website it is very complete and organize it is easy to navigate and has the information a wide variety of people could need, in a very concise but complete way, you don't really need to search or used another website to found information about her because everything you need is here.
