Concept Sketches - Outcome

In this post I will be talking about my concept process throughout the project, to conclude the ideas and gather the designs in a more organised way. First of all my first Idea of concept was a coffee shop. 

The top drawing was the inside idea of the coffee shop, I then started to develop the outside of the coffee shop, and from this came the idea of layers, as it will be in a coastal area, and its design will be inspired by sea shells a natural form shape that serves as a refuge for some animals. My tutor suggested looking at a more practical building and the topic of Lifeboat stations went on, that they are not usually something esthetical but practical, so I could experiment with practicality and design.

My first concept was only focused on the view of the building and not in the practice of it, for my second concept idea I researched animals that lived in the area and had wheels like the hermit crab and as well I had already beacon my research on my materials and choose wood as my main material.

After I  had a talk with my tutor and realized that my project needed to be less curvy and more lineal I started to experiment with SketchUp and design the outer shape  design for my building 

I created this watercolour and ink pen painting from this basic shaped design.

From this, I was convinced I liked the design, so I created my two final concept ideas.
