In this post, I will be discussing my work with my prototype by answering some questions
Does it work?
So far I have been working on two prototypes, in the first prototype that I made the design of the windows and it was not what I was especting so I re do it taking into account that the depth of the windows was important for dimencions, in terms of the especifics for my brief the area is good to add the rest of the facilities needed, mention in my brief. The other areas, like the garden and the parking lot, could be added outside in front of the building.
Does it look as you hoped?
I did my prototypes in a smaller size because I hoped that it would be easier to build and I would have the ability to manage it more. I was correct, it is easier to develop as I do not have to focus on details, just the necessary equipment. But it did not look as neat as I hoped it would look; it is a good outcome regardless.
Is the design working as a whole?
Overall, it is, for my first prototype, the design and the space correlate. I still have to complete my concept sketches, but regardless, I do not think I will be choosing the first design as my final one. Instead, the second prototype is more to my liking do to its similarity to my original design.
What was the process of making the design?
The initial Ideas were first based on the brief I was given I start to create basic sketches, here I created a design similar to the second initial idea, but I wanted to develop the ideas further as it was not very clear, for this I used the image IA we used on class, and created four images from that four images I chose 1 and develop it with my design then I used AI again and madeseveral images but ended with 2 designs that were suitable to the location I had in mind, this two designs were modified to my liking and then presented in sketches and the two prototypes I will be presenting.
How long did it take? (This should give you an indication of how long your final design will take and a better idea of what you can achieve in the timescale)
For the two prototypes, it took me around two days each, but I paused several times and had to repeat certain parts. So with better detail and a more carefully made plan, it would take less.
What materials/equipment will you need?
For the moment, I have considered mountboard, grey board, and Acetate Sheets and as for equipment, the usual material, craft knife, cutting mat, and PVA.
What will it cost?
Based on my research online, 15 pounds will cover the grey and mountboard as well as the acetate sheet.
Which design do you like best?
As I stated before, I like my second-best prototype due to its best functionality, style, as well as its similarity to my first design.
What would improve it?
I would make a better design of the exterior so it can achieve its full functionality.
Good you completed this we can discuss this further in tutorial
