Welcome post - initial ideas

In this post, I will be introducing what I would like to improve on, based on the past experience I have had during the course and overall my expectations for this new term.

First of all, I would like to improve and develop good time management skills, as well I would like to improve on the way I express myself on my blog, because I lack connections between the project I’m working on and the things I document and express in my blog. I would like to expand my knowledge on materials regarding 3D modeling, either physical or digital design. As well, I would like to explore more of my knowledge of site plans and elevations with digital platforms.

I am looking to learn about the things I did wrong during my past experiences in the course. I want to take this last opportunity as best as I can I want to experiment with new things that I had not tried before, like laser cutting or websites or software that could be useful in model making, both 2d and 3d.

During my break I had the opportunity to visit my home country I visited historical places in my city that had a very characteristic architectural style and additionally I visited a very historical city located in the costal zone of my home country, There I could have a better understanding of colonial architecture and modern architecture as the city has a very extended history.

 

San Antonio, Cali, Valle del Cauca 

San Antonio's church is located in top of the hill where San Antonio is located build in 1747 build in the top of a hill west of the city. This church has 17th-century carved wood statues of saints made in an old style known as the Quito school. This was very interesting to know during my break because I had passed through this church many times without knowing how valuable it is.

Initial ideas generation

As I was not in class for the initial ideas generation, I will be doing the exercises on my own.

As for my project, I was assigned a residential home for a family of four on a brief handed by my tutor. This will be an interesting task as I am part of a family of four. This residential home has a list of requirements that I will be applying to my design. Some things, like the SMART features, are something that I have no experience with, so it should be enjoyable to work with.

For my initial Sketches, I came up with 4 designs. 

My first sketch is the sketch that I chose to use with my AI result; it is not as linear as my other designs, and the practicality of this project is also important, so I preferred this as a basis. I also design it taking into account the materials like wood that are good for the exterior of the design, but will have to adjust this decision taking into account the location.

For these three designs, I chose a different style for each, but still, I was not convinced. The third idea, which consisted of two floors for he house, will not be a good option. I chose two designs for a toddler because the stairs could become a temporary problem, the second design for me is too basic, and the last, even though it is curvy and has one floor, it is not what I would look for if I were my client.
